Promise, this is my last blog about peaches. I know we don't have peaches in Lafayette, but I am thrilled that we have become known for our Peach Festival over the last ten years. Events like the Peach Festival and Quaker Oats Oatmeal Festival are part of the fabric of our small town quality of life. They also stimulate our economy and encourage pride in the community. Nope, we don't grow oats here, either, but our Festival helps promote a healthy community through consumption of oatmeal, participation in our 5K race, and attendance at our health fair. It is important that we continue these traditions.
